Specialist rheumatology care in Hatfield

If you are experiencing persistent joint pain, swelling, stiffness or symptoms that could be connected to an inflammatory or autoimmune condition, a specialist rheumatology assessment can help identify the cause and determine the most appropriate next steps.

Dr Bhadauria assesses and manages a wide range of rheumatological conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, psoriatic arthritis, gout, osteoporosis and lupus. Appointments at One Hatfield Hospital offer patients across Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas convenient access to specialist care in a modern private hospital setting.

Rheumatological conditions can affect the joints, muscles, bones and immune system. Their symptoms sometimes overlap with other health problems, making an accurate assessment especially important.

During your consultation, Dr Bhadauria will take time to discuss your symptoms, medical history and any previous investigations or treatment. Where appropriate, he may recommend further tests or imaging to help establish or confirm a diagnosis.

Following your assessment, you will receive a clear explanation of the findings and a personalised plan for managing your condition.

You may wish to arrange a consultation if you are experiencing:

  • Persistent or unexplained joint pain
  • Swollen, warm or tender joints
  • Joint stiffness, particularly in the morning
  • Recurring attacks of severe joint pain
  • Back pain that may have an inflammatory cause
  • Muscle pain or weakness
  • Unexplained fatigue alongside joint symptoms
  • Reduced movement or difficulty with everyday activities
  • Symptoms associated with an existing rheumatological condition
  • Concerns about osteoporosis or bone health

Conditions assessed and treated

Dr Bhadauria has experience in the diagnosis and management of a broad range of rheumatological conditions, including:

Rheumatoid arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis is an inflammatory autoimmune condition that commonly causes joint pain, swelling and stiffness. Early specialist assessment can be important because appropriate treatment may help control inflammation and reduce the risk of lasting joint damage.

Osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis can cause pain, stiffness and reduced movement in affected joints. A consultation can help confirm the diagnosis, assess the effect the condition is having on your life and explore suitable management options.

Psoriatic arthritis

Psoriatic arthritis is an inflammatory condition associated with psoriasis, although joint symptoms do not always begin at the same time as skin symptoms. It may affect the joints, tendons, fingers, toes or spine.

Gout

Gout can cause sudden and intensely painful attacks of joint inflammation. Specialist assessment can help confirm whether gout is responsible, address factors contributing to attacks and establish a longer-term treatment plan where required.

Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis weakens the bones and increases the risk of fractures. Assessment may include consideration of your medical history, individual risk factors, previous fractures and whether further investigation or treatment is appropriate.

Lupus and autoimmune conditions

Lupus and other connective-tissue diseases can affect several parts of the body and may produce a wide range of symptoms. Specialist assessment can help investigate whether symptoms have an autoimmune cause and guide ongoing care.

Dr Bhadauria also assesses other joint, muscle and inflammatory conditions. If you are unsure whether a rheumatology consultation is suitable, please contact the practice team.

A physical examination may be undertaken where appropriate. Depending on your symptoms and the information already available, further investigations may be recommended.
